Ingredients
- 16 sheets phyllo pastry
- 250 g walnuts
- 250 g pistachios
- 200 g butter
- 150 g sugar
- 200 ml honey
- 200 ml water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Finely chop walnuts and pistachios, mix with cinnamon and cloves
- Melt butter and brush 9x13 baking pan
- Layer 2 phyllo sheets, brush with butter between each layer
- Spread thin layer of nut mixture, top with 2 phyllo sheets
- Repeat layering until nuts and phyllo are used, ending with phyllo
- Score the top into diamond or square shapes
- Bake at 160°C for 40-45 minutes until golden
- Make syrup: combine sugar, water, honey, cinnamon, and cloves, simmer 15 mins, add lemon juice
- Pour hot syrup over hot baklava immediately after removing from oven
- Cool completely before cutting along scored lines
