Bulgogi (Korean Marinated Beef)

Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin
- 0.5 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 whole onion
- 0.5 whole pear
- 3 stalks scallions
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 package lettuce
- 2 cups rice
Instructions
- Partially freeze beef for easier slicing
- Slice beef very thin (1/8 inch)
- Mince garlic and ginger
- Grate pear
- Slice onion thinly
- Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and pear
- Add beef, onion, and sliced scallions to marinade
- Marinate for at least 2 hours (or overnight)
- Heat grill or cast iron skillet to high heat
- Grill beef in batches for 2-3 minutes per side
- Serve with lettuce wraps, rice, and sesame seeds
- Optionally serve with gochujang or ssamjang sauce
