Chicken Paprikash

Ingredients

  • 1000 g chicken thighs
  • 3 large onion
  • 3 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp caraway seeds

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken thighs into large pieces, pat dry
  2. Slice onions thinly
  3. Melt butter in large pot, sauté onions until soft and beginning to caramelize
  4. Add chicken, brown lightly on all sides
  5. Reduce heat, add paprika and tomato paste, stir for 1 minute
  6. Add chicken broth and caraway seeds
  7. Bring to simmer, cover and cook for 30-35 minutes until chicken is tender
  8. Mix flour with small amount of water to make paste
  9. Stir flour paste into stew to thicken slightly
  10. Remove from heat, stir in sour cream (don't boil after adding sour cream)
  11. Season with salt and pepper, serve over egg noodles
