Gangmyeon (Korean Spicy Noodles with Seafood)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb wheat noodles
  • 1 lb seafood mix (shrimp, squid, mussels)
  • 1 whole onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsp gochugaru
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 stalks scallions
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles until just tender, drain
  2. Slice onion and mince garlic
  3. Heat sesame oil in large pot
  4. Sauté garlic and onion for 1 minute
  5. Add gochujang and cook 1 minute
  6. Add water and bring to boil
  7. Add seafood and cook 5 minutes
  8. Add cooked noodles
  9. Season with soy sauce, sugar, and salt
  10. Simmer for 2-3 minutes
  11. Slice scallions
  12. Serve in bowl
  13. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds
