Ingredients
- 1000 g beef chuck
- 4 large onion
- 2 medium carrot
- 4 medium potato
- 3 tbsp paprika
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1000 ml beef broth
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 500 ml water
Instructions
- Cut beef into 2-3cm cubes, pat dry
- Dice onions, carrots, and potatoes
- Heat olive oil in large pot over high heat
- Brown beef in batches, don't overcrowd, set aside
- Add diced onions, sauté until soft and caramelized
- Reduce heat, add paprika and stir for 1 minute to bloom
- Add tomato paste, stir well
- Return beef to pot, add beef broth and water
- Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 1.5 hours
- Add carrots and potatoes, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper
- Simmer for another 45 minutes until beef and vegetables are very tender
- Adjust seasonings and serve hot
