Jjamppong (Korean Spicy Seafood Soup)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp
  • 1 lb mussels
  • 8 oz squid
  • 1 whole onion
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp gochugaru
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 quarts fish broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 stalks scallions
  • 1 whole zucchini
  • 8 oz mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Clean shrimp, mussels, and squid
  2. Slice squid into rings
  3. Slice onion and mince garlic
  4. Slice zucchini and mushrooms
  5. Heat sesame oil in large pot
  6. Sauté garlic and onion for 1 minute
  7. Add gochujang and gochugaru, cook 1 minute
  8. Add fish broth and bring to boil
  9. Add shrimp, mussels, and squid
  10. Add zucchini and mushrooms
  11. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until seafood is cooked
  12. Season with soy sauce
  13. Serve in bowls
  14. Garnish with sliced scallions
