Ingredients

  • 12 sheets phyllo pastry
  • 200 g walnut
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 150 g butter
  • 150 ml honey
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 whole clove

Instructions

  1. Finely chop walnuts, mix with sugar and cinnamon
  2. Melt butter, brush into 9x13 baking pan
  3. Layer 6 phyllo sheets, brushing each with butter
  4. Spread walnut mixture evenly
  5. Top with remaining 6 phyllo sheets, brushing each with butter
  6. Score top into diamond shapes
  7. Bake at 160°C for 40-45 minutes until golden
  8. Make syrup: combine water, honey, and cloves, simmer 5 minutes
  9. Pour hot syrup over hot pastry immediately after removing from oven
  10. Cool completely before cutting
