Pita Bread

Ingredients

  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 5 g instant yeast
  • 250 ml warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water with yeast, let sit for 5 minutes
  2. Combine flour and salt in bowl
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to flour
  4. Mix until shaggy dough forms, knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth
  5. Place in oiled bowl, cover, let rise for 1.5-2 hours until doubled
  6. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces, shape into balls
  7. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes
  8. Roll each ball into 6mm thick circle
  9. Heat cast iron or nonstick skillet over high heat
  10. Place pita in hot pan for 1-2 minutes per side until puffed and slightly charred
  11. Stack finished pita under towel to keep warm and soft
