Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil
- 0.75 cup warm water
Instructions
- Mix flour and salt in a bowl
- Add oil and rub into flour
- Add water gradually, mix and knead into soft, smooth dough
- Knead 5-7 minutes until elastic
- Cover and rest 15-30 minutes
- Divide into 8 equal balls
- Dust with flour and roll into thin circle (6-7 inch)
- Heat tawa/griddle on medium-high until hot
- Place roti on hot tawa, let it cook 20-30 seconds
- Flip and cook other side until brown spots appear
- Flip again and use cloth to press edges so it puffs
- Remove and serve hot with curry or dal
- Optional: brush with ghee or butter
