Ingredients

  • 400 g halloumi cheese
  • 100 g flour
  • 1 whole egg
  • 500 ml olive oil
  • 1 whole lemon
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut cheese into 1cm thick slices
  2. Place flour on one plate and beaten egg on another
  3. Coat each cheese slice in flour, then dip in egg, coat in flour again
  4. Heat olive oil to 170°C in deep pan
  5. Fry cheese slices 1-2 minutes per side until golden and soft inside
  6. Drain on paper towels, squeeze fresh lemon juice over top immediately
  7. Serve hot, can optionally flame with brandy and shout 'Opa!'
