Ingredients
- 400 g halloumi cheese
- 100 g flour
- 1 whole egg
- 500 ml olive oil
- 1 whole lemon
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Cut cheese into 1cm thick slices
- Place flour on one plate and beaten egg on another
- Coat each cheese slice in flour, then dip in egg, coat in flour again
- Heat olive oil to 170°C in deep pan
- Fry cheese slices 1-2 minutes per side until golden and soft inside
- Drain on paper towels, squeeze fresh lemon juice over top immediately
- Serve hot, can optionally flame with brandy and shout 'Opa!'
