Servings: 6
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Difficulty: Medium

Ingredients

  • 8 medium Apples (Granny Smith)
  • 100 g Butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 320 g Puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel, halve, and core apples.
  3. In 10-inch cast iron or oven-safe skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  4. Add sugar and cook until melted (do not stir, let it caramelize).
  5. Arrange apple halves cut-side down in caramel, packing tightly.
  6. Continue cooking for 10-15 minutes until apples soften and caramel darkens slightly.
  7. Squeeze lemon juice over apples.
  8. Roll out puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  9. Cut circle slightly larger than skillet.
  10. Gently place pastry over apples, tucking edges down into pan.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes until pastry is golden brown.
  12. Cool for 5 minutes, then carefully invert onto serving plate (caramel drips over pastry).
  13. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
