Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients

  • 8 pieces chicken thighs
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup mirin
  • 0.25 cup sake
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks scallions
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat
  2. Season chicken with salt and pepper
  3. Brown chicken skin-side down (5 minutes)
  4. Flip and cook other side (3 minutes)
  5. Mince garlic and ginger
  6. Mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger
  7. Pour sauce over chicken
  8. Simmer covered for 15 minutes
  9. Mix cornstarch and water to make slurry
  10. Add slurry to sauce to thicken
  11. Cook 2 minutes more
  12. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions
  13. Serve over rice
