Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients
- 8 pieces chicken thighs
- 0.5 cup soy sauce
- 0.5 cup mirin
- 0.25 cup sake
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 stalks scallions
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat
- Season chicken with salt and pepper
- Brown chicken skin-side down (5 minutes)
- Flip and cook other side (3 minutes)
- Mince garlic and ginger
- Mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger
- Pour sauce over chicken
- Simmer covered for 15 minutes
- Mix cornstarch and water to make slurry
- Add slurry to sauce to thicken
- Cook 2 minutes more
- Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions
- Serve over rice
