Tteokbokki (Rice Cakes in Spicy Sauce)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs rice cakes (tteok)
  • 4 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 8 oz fish cakes
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Soak rice cakes in warm water for 10 minutes
  2. Cut fish cakes into strips
  3. Mince garlic
  4. Heat oil in large pot
  5. Add gochujang and cook for 1 minute
  6. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds
  7. Add water and bring to boil
  8. Add rice cakes and fish cakes
  9. Add sugar and soy sauce
  10. Cook for 8-10 minutes until rice cakes are soft
  11. Slice green onions
  12. Top with green onions and sesame seeds
  13. Serve hot
