Turkish Meatballs (Köfte)

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground lamb
  • 2 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 60 g bread crumbs
  • 30 g parsley
  • 1 whole red pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 300 ml tomato sauce
  • 300 ml beef broth

Instructions

  1. Finely chop onion, garlic, and red pepper
  2. Combine ground lamb with chopped vegetables, bread crumbs, and parsley
  3. Add cumin, salt, and pepper, mix well
  4. Form into 24-30 small balls
  5. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium-high heat
  6. Brown meatballs on all sides, about 8-10 minutes total
  7. Mix tomato sauce and beef broth, pour over meatballs
  8. Simmer covered for 20-25 minutes until cooked through
  9. Serve with rice pilaf and fresh vegetables
