Yangnyeom Chicken (Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 8 pieces chicken thighs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks scallions

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper
  2. Toss chicken in flour mixture
  3. Heat oil to 350°F
  4. Fry chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes until golden
  5. Drain on paper towels
  6. In small saucepan, mix gochujang, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and butter
  7. Heat until combined and glossy
  8. Toss fried chicken in sauce
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions
  10. Serve immediately
